When visiting this Robbinsdale, MN based coffee shop for the first time to buy a bag of beans, I decided to go against my better judgement a little bit and buy this bag. The hesitancy was from the fact that there was no date on the bag, whether it’s ‘Roasted on’ or ‘best by’. I tried looking for possibly faded print of a date without any luck. Keeping in mind that this bag only costed $14 and I really wanted to just get some beans from a place I never have before, I thought why not. This place had maybe 1-2 other bags to choose from so there weren’t many options.
When I got home to check it out, I did see visible signs of possibly dated beans. They looked a little oily for truly medium roasted beans. With all of that said, I used all of the recommended variables for brewing medium roasted coffee and I ended up having many good cups with it.
When doing the standard method with the OXO Rapid brewer, the best JX Pro settings were around 1.8.0-1.8.2. I didn’t use my newer ZP6s grinder with this bag to be extra cautious because of some noticeable oils but not as bad as what you can find from Starbucks.
